SWANA ROAD-E-O MISSION “To provide operators of solid waste collection and landfill equipment an opportunity to showcase their skills.”

SWANA's California Chapters co-hosted the 2023 ROAD-E-O in Santa Maria, California, the first state-wide event held in many years! The event was a great success with over 40 drivers participating on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Santa Maria Fairplex Arena. Our Top Gun honors once again went to Eric Berlier from the City of Merced. Our second place award went to Carlos Mariscal from the City of Santa Maria. Both drivers competed in the front loader category. Our winners also competed at the SWANA International ROAD-E-O on October 14, 2023 taking 1st and 2nd place there as well! David Soto from the City of Merced and Daniel Stottlemyre from the City of Sacramento also competed with David Soto placing 2nd in the Side Loader competition! Congratulations to our winners from California! The international event was hosted by the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter in Denver, Colorado, with over 100 competitors.
