OUR MISSION: SWANA is an organization of professionals committed to advancing from solid waste management to resource management through a shared emphasis on education, advocacy, and research.


Sierra Chapter's Richard H. Townley Scholarship

The Richard H. Townley Scholarship is available exclusively within the SWANA Central California Sierra Chapter. To qualify, applicants must be either graduating from high school in the spring, current college student, or returning student, pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree. In addition, the scholarship candidates must be a SWANA Student Member, a current SWANA Sierra Chapter member, or the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a member in good standing in the Central California Sierra Chapter of SWANA.

The application deadline is May 15, 2026, after which the Sierra Chapter Scholarship Committee will evaluate all applications and announce the recipient of this year's R.H. Townley Scholarship.
